Have you ever asked anybody to borrow their guitar? Do you want to buy a guitar? Most likely, you have been lent a classical guitar, if you asked for one. Perhaps you even got a sweet steel string guitar. The "normal" guitar, if you will, is an excellent learning tool. Why is it an excellent guitar to learn on? It does not require all of the bells and whistles other guitars do. Electric guitars need devices such as amps, speakers, and so on.

When you play on an acoustic guitar, the only thing you need is a pick. This keeps it simple and you have a lot fun as well. Another great advantage of the acoustic guitar is that people around you will not get annoyed when you repeatedly make mistakes in a song, unlike playing over a loudspeaker for an electric guitar. Also, the harder you play, the thicker the strings on the guitar have to be.

Once you have decided on the style of music you like, try to find a music video of it. This can help you to know whether or not the guitarist is using an electric or acoustic guitar.
