Hand Guitar Positions

The Proper Thumb Position On a Guitar

Standing Guitar PositionThere is one major cardinal rule when it comes to the hand position on a guitar. Make sure you keep your hands relaxed. Also keep your wrists loose. If you try to strain your hand you may well end up injuring it. Do not be all up tight when you are playing. Simply take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy yourself.

Improper Hand Position - Thumb Is Too LowAs you can see on the picture to the right here, the hand is in the wrong position. You never want to do this people. The way the thumb is positioned here is wrong. It is going to cause strain on the hand and could even cause injury after a prolonged period of time.
