Guitar Scales and Timing

Melody and Harmony In A Guitar

Guitar scales and timing are a very important aspect of this instrument. The proper way to start to learn these is to play a bunch of chords. Next, you are going to pick apart the individual notes from those chords. Does this make sense?

If you want to be able to play any kind of song, you are going to have to learn how to properly time your rhythm. When you are playing a scale, the hand on the frets has to pick out each note clearly. You do not want to create a muffled sound or effect. If you want success, your right hand must be coordinated with your left hand.

The guitar is a very cool instrument. Do you know why? You can play the same note on the guitar by utilizing different hand positions. You can play a scale either by moving across a single string or a series of strings. Melody and harmony in a guitar are based on the certain order of individual notes. These notes lead into what we know as a scale. Most scales use fixed spaces or intervals within a certain octave. They also utilize a certain number of notes, normally being seven.

Guitar scales and timing define how the notes are used. If you do not have a proper definition to go by, your music will be astray. Everyone needs to learn how to properly count the tempo of a song and be able to play to that tempo. This is helpful to do if you have a metronome or some sort of constant sound source.

Using this metronome provides and even constant beat. If you have trouble starting off playing with a constant count, I highly suggest to invest in a metronome. You can adjust the speed of a metronome to click as many times per minute as you want. This is of course, within reason. I don't think you want to play at 500 beats per minute. Fingerstyle Guitar >>
